Kampala to Murchison Falls (Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary)

After breakfast you will be transferred to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a two-hour drive from Kampala on the way to Murchison Falls National Park. You will have an opportunity to track the rhinos on foot. Also look out for bush buck, leopard, Uganda kob, oribi, crocodiles, hippo and other wildlife present on the ranch. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary offers peace and tranquility in beautiful
surroundings. You will continue with your drive stopping over for lunch on the way. Upon arrival to Murchison falls in the afternoon, you will visit the “top of the falls” for your chance to view the magnificence of the Nile. The park is cut into half by the famous River Nile where it has to squeeze itself through the legendary Murchison Falls, an impossibly narrow 7 meters gap in a cliff rock creating a powerful explosion of white water. Murchison Falls are believed to be the most powerful natural flow of water anywhere on earth. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Murchison Falls

After an early breakfast, proceed for a game drive. Elephant, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, Uganda kob, hartebeest and waterbuck are commonly seen. You may also spot oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, bush duiker, warthog and bush pig. Large carnivores include lion, leopard and spotted hyena. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile. Enroute, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also a zone of many bird species. The boat will stop just tens of meters from the sinister, frothing and bubbling base of the falls. Later return to your lodge
for dinner and overnight.

Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant Country-side and past traditional homesteads and farms. You will have lunch break on the way. Upon arrival, you will be taken to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a walk. This is a guided swamp walk that takes you closer seeing primates mostly monkeys, birds and butterflies. The wetland is a bird paradise with about 138 species and home to the Great Blue Turaco. You will settle down as you wait for dinner at the lodge.

Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will wake up for breakfast and then head deep into the forest for chimpanzee trekking. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on the entire park and surrounding communities making it interesting. During the trek you will see other primates like black and white monkeys, baboons, Colobus monkeys among others. After chimp trekking you will be transferred by road to Queen Elizabeth national park arriving in the evening. You will check in to your lodge then settle down for dinner and overnight.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast you will head out for a morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile tracks where visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs and a variety of birds. Thereafter, go back to the lodge for lunch and brief rest before heading to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. You will see hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants, water bucks, warthogs and many other wildlife along the banks as well as plenty of bird species as Queen Elizabeth has the highest number of bird species in Uganda’s national game parks. You will also have the opportunity to go through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park, this area is known for its tree-climbing lions. In Ishasha we will drive off in this adventurous vast savannah to hopefully get the Lions high in the fig tree branches. Retire to back to your lodge and enjoy the beautiful sunset as you wait for your dinner.

Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast you will be transferred by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda; harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain-forests, which dates back to over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. With a strenuous day ahead, you will check into your accommodation, relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

After an early morning breakfast you will be driven to the park headquarters for briefing on the do’s and don’ts during gorilla tracking and thereafter you will proceed to the gorilla trail. Gorilla tracking normally lasts between 1 to 8 hours or even a day to encounter the gorillas. However, you will be allowed to stay in the presence of these awesome apes for at least an hour. It is advisable that you carry packed lunch, which will be provided, as one cannot determine how long it may take to encounter the mountain gorillas. If time and energy allow, you may take the Batwa Cultural visit after the gorilla tracking or just have a relaxed afternoon. Enjoy your evening, dinner and overnight.

Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast you will be transferred by road to Lake Mburo national park. Carry on with the safari arriving at lunch hours, have a lunch break before proceeding to the park. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride on lake Mburo. This ride will reward you with the view of the animals and birds at the lake shores. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

In the morning immediately after breakfast, enjoy game drive for about 2 hours and then drive to Kampala. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back home. End of a fascinating 10 days Uganda wildlife and gorilla trekking safari with Kikwetu Cultural Adventures.
