Kenya is endowed with a rich history, culture and natural heritage that can't be exhausted in seven days only. This safari therefore is designed to give you major insights to the diverse and fascinating cultural heritage and traditional practices of the people of Kenya. This tour will give you a chance to have a close contact with the local people so that you may learn about their culture from firsthand. You will also experience the traditional way of living and sample their local dishes. The only way you can know Kenya is to stay with the people.
Day 1: Nairobi – Kisumu
After breakfast depart for Kisumu, a lakeside city in the western region of Kenya with a stop over in Kericho for Lunch. You will arrive in Kisumu in the afternoon. After relaxing you will visit the famous dunga beach known for its tilapia fish eating. You will take a boat ride in Lake Victoria as you watch the sunset.
Day 2: Kisumu
After breakfast, the cultural holiday proceeds with a visit to the impala game park for the antelopes, ostriches, hyenas and hippos. You will also take a city tour; visit Kisumu Museum, Kibuye Market – a large open air market, Kibuye Catholic Church – the oldest in the region. Later in the evening you will take a boat ride in Lake Victoria and return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Kisumu – Nyajuok Village
After your breakfast drive out of Kisumu to Nyajuok Village. This is the heart of this safari. You will arrive around 10am. On arrival you will be welcomed with traditional dance and songs from the locals. After the welcome, you will settle down for an early traditional lunch followed by a short naming ceremony where you will be given a local name. Here you will learn how naming of children was being done. You will have time to relax and bond with the local hosts. Later in the afternoon you will take a walk around the village, where you will have an opportunity to meet the locals and learn from them. Return back in the evening for your dinner. After dinner you will be entertained to traditional songs or story telling around bonfire while watching the beautiful stars in the sky. After this session you will be free to leave for your beds.
Day 4: Nyajuok Village
After a hearty traditional breakfast, take a walk to the river (River Yala – Permanent River and the source of water for the locals here). You will have an opportunity to see the locals tilting their farms while others fetching water from this river. Several species of birds awaits along the way. You may also see the monkeys around the river banks. Return back home and relax waiting for your lunch. After lunch you will take a ride to the prominent Kogello Village, the ancestoral home of the US President Barrack Obama. You will stay around Mama Sarah Obama, the grand mother of Barrack while she tells her story and that of the president. Leave the village in the evening for Ting’wang’i Market centre where you have a chance to meet with the locals as they go about their day to day trading activities. Return back home for your dinner and story telling sessions.
Day 5: Nyajuok Village
After breakfast, you will have a chance to visit the local dispensary (Ting’wang’i Medical Dispensary. Return back home for lunch. After lunch you will head to Nyajuok primary or secondary school to have a taste of the education system in the country. You will meet with both the teachers and students alike. Return back home in the evening for your dinner.
Day 6: Nyajuok Village – Lake Nakuru
Today marks you last day in the village, After breakfast you will be entertained with the traditional songs and dances. You will be given some presents from the host and it will be time to say bye to the host and leave your Africa. If you have some gifts or tips for the host, this will be an ideal time to give it out. You will then depart to Lake Nakuru. We will have a stop over in Kisumu or Kericho for lunch and then head straight to Lake Nakuru. You will arrive in the evening, check in your hotel and settle down for your dinner.
Day 7: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi
After breakfast proceed for the morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National park then depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.
