Tour Overview

Within the six days of safari in Rwanda you will be able to explore the Rwanda culture and values. You will visit Batwa community in Ruhengeri province in the northern Rwanda, Omwami’s Palace in Nyanza, the Rugarama hot springs and the genocide memorial centres.

 

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

On your arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred to your hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour

Enjoy a visit to the Kandt’s Natural History Musuem, dancing pots workshop at Kiyovu and later Gisozi genocide memorial site.

Day 3: Visit the Batwa (Pygmies)

A traditional dance will be organized for you on this day by the Batwa (Pygmies). Visit the local brick makers. Overnight stay at Mt Gorilla View Lodge / Chimp Nest Lodge.

Day 3: Visit the twin Lakes – Ruhondo and Burera

Wake up and have breakfast, then visit the beautiful region of the twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. You will be introduced to traditional sustainable farming methods with African vegetables and fruits, visit the local fishermen and also see the fishing competition with children from the adjacent villages. You will then have a launch cruise in one of the traditional canoes and have a visit to the convent Foyer de Charit, visit the local witch doctors and the snake man

4: Lake Kivu

After breakfast you will drive to Lake Kivu, passing through the scenic mountains. On arrival and after lunch you can relax at the sandy beach on Lake Kivu or just undertake a boat cruise to the coffee island.

Day 5: King’s Palace in Nyanza

Drive to Nyanza, the historical seat of the ancient Rwandan kings and visit the Palace, then drive to Butare, Rwanda's cultural centre and visit the National Museum. Drive to Kigali and tour the city. In the early evening, you will get to see performances done by the members of a Batwa Pottery Project with an introduction to the life of the first Rwandans, their art of pottery as well as singing, drumming and dancing

Day 6: Kigali

Along the way visit Mirambi genocide memorial site.
