This 12 days trip is a chance for you to learn about the culture, people and history of Uganda. The tour includes all major historical, cultural and religious sites including the Uganda Museum, Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo, Mengo, Namirembe, Bahai temple and many more
Day 1: Arrival
On arrival and if time allows, we drive to the Ndere Cultural Center for cultural entertainment from the Ndere Troupe. The Ndere Troupe is a group that brings you the magnificent performances from and around Uganda and later an head to your hotel an overnight.
Day 2: Buganda Kingdom
Wake up for an early breakfast and set to Buddo Naggalabi coronation site. This is where the Kabakas of Buganda have been crowned for the past 700 years. It is also believed that in this hill (Buddo) is where Kintu who was the first Kabaka of Buganda killed his brother Bemba and declared himself a king (13th Century). Later we proceed to the burial grounds of the Queen mothers of Buganda and spend time with the existing Queen Mother and the daughters before visiting Katereke Prison Ditch.
Day 3: Buganda’s Royal Tombs and Kabaka’s Lake
After breakfast, we drive to the royal palace of Kasubi Tombs where four of the former Kings of Buganda were buried. We then proceed to the Kabaka's Lake, one of the last few remaining man made water bodies in Uganda. After lunch, we drive to the Namasole Kanyange Tombs. These are located on a hillside overlooking the Wamala Tombs. The Tomb houses the body of Nnamasole Kanyange, the mother of Kabaka Ssuna II whose body was laid to rest at Wamala. The Tomb also houses the bodies of subsequent Nnamasoles (Queen mothers). The Tombs are an important place for rituals and ceremonies. They also contain a special drum used for calling Ssuna's spirit.
Day 4: Bunyoro Kingdom
We leave for Hoima Districtwith a stopover at the Mparo Tombs, the royal burial grounds of the Kings of Bunyoro kingdom. On arrival and after lunch we visit the magnificent Karuzika palace of Bunyoro kingdom. This is the official residence of the king of Bunyoro.
Day 5: Fort Portal
After breakfast, we will head for Fort Portal with a stopover at the Nakayima shrine. Here, there is a 400 year old tree. The shrine is visited by the locals paying homage to the matriarch Nakayima of the Bachwezi who are believed to be semi-gods.
Day 6: Omukama’s Palace
After an early breakfast, we visit the palace of the Omukama of Toro located on Fort Portal's highest hill.
Day 7: Chwezi Kingdom-Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru
After an early breakfast, drive you will drive to Nyakasura historical cave locally known as Amabeere ga nyinamwiru (Breast Caves). It is locally believed that these were formerly breasts of the ancient princess of Chwezi Kingdom and that they were cut off and grew into a good scenic rock "dripping with milk". It is believed that the princess, called Nyinamwiru, daughter of Bukuku, misbehaved and she was punished by cutting off her breasts. You will have an opportunity to climb on these hills where you will get a scenic view of the ranges of the Mountains of the Moon.
Day 8: Toro Kingdom
On this day, we proceed to have a village walk around the Toro Community where you will experience the real toro tradition customs and lifestyle.
Day 9: Kibale Forest
Today, you will visit the local communities living around Kibale Forest mainly the Batoro and Bakida and learn more of their culture.
Day 10: Kanungu and Kabale
After an early breakfast we leave for Kabale through Kanungu. Kanungu is the place where thousands of Catholics were burnt alive in an inferno by a religious cult, led by Joseph Kibwetere.
Day 11: Kabale
After breakfast we take a cultural walk to experience the Kiga culture. We will also visit Rugarama and Rushoroza Cathedrals.
Day 12: Kampala
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Kampala arriving in the late evening.
